1.What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
I didn't do anything new last year. I'm lame.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolution, and will you make more for next year?
Don't do resolutions. Same as last year, same response next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nobody I'm emotionally close to, but my husband's brother's wife had her baby on December 27th. His name is Andrew, and I haven't seen him as of yet. My sister-in-law Angelique said he looks like he has some sort of syndrome. She is mean-spirited at times, but I laughed. Does that make me a bad person? Heh.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No one I was emotionally close to, but the husband's paternal grandfather passed away in March.

5. What countries did you visit?
Unless you count new fantasy realms in Guild Wars 2 or various novels, none at all.

6. What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
I'd like a job that doesn't suck. I've been stuck at the same place for nearly five years now, and I'm burnt out. I'm afraid it's making me depressed, if that's even possible. It makes me really unhappy, and that discontent spills over into the rest of my life, which I hate but cannot seem to stop.

7. What dates from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
January 5: Taking a howling cat to see an eye specialist 20 minutes away is not fun. I love you, Kisa.
March 19: Daddy B passed away.
April 22: Godson's baptism.
October 15: Got keys to new apartment. Feel all grown up b/c it is actually nice.
September-November: My youngest brother started being a complete dillweed, quit school, doing drugs, getting drunk, going out all hours of the day and night. I wanted his behind carted off to some sort of difficult teen program or just tossed in juvie, but nothing came of inquiries into either option.
December 2: I got my hair cut short for the first time in about eight or nine years.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I don't feel like I achieved anything this year. It's kind of been a blur.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Staying at my shitty job another year. It makes me hate everything.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was pretty damn sick on my birthday and through Christmas. Started the day before my birthday, and I'm just now getting my voice back.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Mm..do apartments count? I'm much happier where we live now. If not, my Samsung Galaxy Tab II is pretty sweet.

12. Best food experience of the year?
I discovered benne wafers. How have I never had these before?! They are an amazing little addictive sweet treat. God, now I want some. Ooo! I don't know if they still have it or not (oh, please don't be seasonal), but there's this apple cider fizz drink at Ruby Tuesday's that is simply wonderful.

13. Worst (or craziest) food experience of the year?
Had godawful service and food at the Ruby Tuesday's on James Island with my mom back in November.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills. What else is new? Eating out too much. I enjoy it so much, though.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Erm..not much of anything, really. Like I've said, I've felt pretty stagnant this year.

16. What song will always remind you of 2012?
Imogen Heap: Wait It Out

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or hardened? Neither suits. Angry and frustrated far too much. Hollow and a little hopeless about some things.
b) thinner or fatter? Same as last year.
c) richer or poorer? About the same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd tried harder to find a job. I wish I'd been more zen.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing about work. Same as last year. Heh.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas Eve was at Husband's maternal grandmother's. He and his dad are estranged, and said asshole showed up and tried to talk to him. We ignored him, but I felt extremely uncomfortable. I was also sick the entire holiday, so that blew. Husband worked Christmas day, so I went to Mema's. My dad and aunt and her son came there this year, so it was one big Christmas gathering. Rather laid back, which I was okay with.

21. How did you spend New Years?
Worked the eve, worked this morning, now home alone while Husband works. This one's been uneventful.

22. Did you fall in love in 2012?
No. I love and appreciate my husband, but I'm having a hard time with feelings right now.

23. This year was the Year of ...?
Stagnancy

4. What was your favorite TV program?
Elementary is a good new one.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope, I just loathe a couple people at work more than ever. Same as last year. Youngest brother is also on my shit list, and I hope my husband's father dies screaming.

26. What was the best book you read?
I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I want to be Your Class President by Josh Lieb was hysterical. Best with actual content would be a tie between Pegasus by Robin McKinley and Cinder by Marissa Meyer.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Regina Spektor is pretty cool, but my two favorites from The Voice and X Factor are Melanie Martinez and Carly Rose Sonenclar. Oh! Awesome Youtube finds are Ariel Sabaj and ThePianoGuys.

28. What did you want and get?
I wanted an e-reader, and my husband got me my Tab II.

29. What did you want and not get?
Job satisfaction and less stress. Same as last year and the year before that.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I've actually seen a few this year, but all I can remember at this exact moment is Pitch Perfect, which was funny.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had a horrible cold or the flu, not sure, but still managed to go out with everyone to Red Orchid. That restaurant is a definite favorite. The food did not disappoint. I turned 28.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Finding a job I could tolerate. Same as last year.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
I'm still favoring t-shirts/blouses with pretty designs that are probably still more comfortable than fashionable. And jeans. And ugly, comfortable shoes.

34. What kept you sane?
A lack of motivation to go truly insane, probably.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
This question is always weird. I'm skipping it.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The ones that always do, really. Gay rights, women's reproductive rights, equality for all, separation of church and state. Same as last year.

37. Who did you miss?
I missed my paternal grandparents this year. And I wanted to spend more time with my dad.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I only really meet new people through work, and none of them stood out.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012:
Don't waste time keeping jerks in your life. They're not worth it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Your life is one big compromise
Stuck in the job you swore was only temporary
Feel like the world is passin' you by
Never done all the things you wanted to try
Stuck in one place, got a pain in your face
From all your stressin' out
You ask yourself there's got to be more than what I'm livin for
You ask yourself there's got to be somethin else
Somethin' more, more, more
